New for 2023, here’s another beautiful piece from the Ball Family Reserve, the most prestigious and exclusive collection of instruments from our friends at Ernie Ball Music Man – this stunning JP15 “Butterscotch Burl!” The JP15 commemorates the first 15 years of John Petrucci’s collaboration with Music Man, but it has turned out to be one of the most enduring and popular JP models to date.

It’s just like the JP13, but with an African Okoume body and a gorgeous roasted flame maple neck. This guitar has that coveted Petrucci feel: The fretboard is perfectly consistent all the way up and down, and the strings practically play themselves. Bends are easy and intonate very well, and lightning fast runs come out cleanly and with plenty of articulation. The sound is clear and powerful, equally conducive to walls of distortion and crystal cleans. Upper register access is totally unrestricted thanks to a comfortable neck heel and smooth lower bout cut.

The 2023 John Petrucci JP15 “Butterscotch Burl” BFR features a unique combination of tonewoods that make it the gem of any guitar collection. The JP15’s highlights start with a richly figured Butterscotch Burst buckeye burl top outlined with a thin rosewood veneer and loaded onto a smooth-sounding Black Limba body. The Black Limba body’s backside is adorned with a distinctive, beautiful trans butterscotch satin finish. The neck combines roasted figured maple and a rosewood fretboard with 24 stainless steel frets. Like most JP15 models, this guitar features Dimarzio Illuminator pickups for the neck and bridge, a 20+ dB gain boost, and a super smooth modern tremolo with Schaller locking tuners for ultimate tuning stability. Limited to 100 pieces worldwide, each guitar includes a mono case, a John Petrucci autographed tremolo cavity cover and numbered certificate of authenticity.
